your description reminds me of the series of sketches on the Israeli version of
Sesame Street called "The 'Happiness' Family" or "Family 'Bliss'" where they
are frustrated first from clothes being dirty and finally with the washing soap
being dirty. Related to it

I can suggest writing some tests by hand using xpath or similar to verify
that *some* of the transformed results are right.
