RE: [chairs] Biographic data schemas
Ram,

You also should mention here that CIQ has been widely adopted by
other TCs, government agencies and XML initiatives for use in
address and biographic information handling.

Thanks, DW

(CIQ TC member)

Hi Cathy,

I chair the OASIS Customer Information Quality
(CIQ) TC
and the objective of this committee is to define XML
specifications
for representing, interoperating and exchanging party
specific information
such as name, address, tel, email, etc. The
specs. are application
independent and can be used as the base for
any application that uses
party info. We differ from other groups
such as HR-XML, Justice,
etc that have name and address and other
party components that are
designed specifically to meet their
requiements namely, human resources,
justice sector, e-commerce,
etc. Ours is independent of any app.
requiements. We spent over 2
years just looking at building name and address

spec. that can meet the requirements of 240+ countries as
there are over

140+ types of addresses and 40+ types of name representations in
the

world. Ours is the only standards group that concentrates
specifically on

defining specs. for party centric information and no
more.

The url for CIQ is: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ciq

Let
me know if you need any further info.

Regards,

Ram
Kumar

TC Chairs -

I am
chairing the new TC on Biometric Identity Assurance Services
(BIAS)
Integration.  One aspect of our work includes
defining an XML schema for
biographic information (name, address,
etc.).  Rather than re-invent
this, we'd like to consider
existing schemas for this purpose.  If you
are aware of
any such schemas (perhaps from the world of HR, justice, or
another
domain), could you please let us know about them?

Thank you so
much for your help.
