RE: ST questions from 2009-06-24 telecon
Sheila; During today's teleconference, we talked through your questions below. The recording of our discussion is available for replay @ https://www117.livemeeting.com/cc/freescale/view?id=sidsc-090805 If we can continue this dialog via email, that would be great! Regards, Bob From: Sheila D'ANNUNZIO [mailto:] Sent: Thursday, June 25, 2009 3:33 AM To: Beims Bob-RWBC70; 'Semiconductor Information Design Subcommittee' Subject: RE: [dita-sidsc] GAAAA!!! They moved the cheese again! Hi Bob, Here is a summary of the points I raised in yesterday's meeting. 1. SIDSC specializations and output processing Can someone who has not used the SIDSC specializations, and more importantly who has not developed a stylesheet to process them, take SIDSC DITA, do the output processing with the DITA OT (or their own DITA stylesheet) and get the output to make sense? If the answer is no, then have we not lost one of the fundamental benefits of using DITA - compatibility with anyone else using DITA? Is it good enough that the compatibility stops at interpreting the XML and does not cover the output processing? 2. What is the purpose of the SIDSC specializations? Considering that the SIDSC data model is rather heavy, what is it's objective? Is it designed to be more than a documentation XML? Are all the additional tags really necessary to create a semiconductor datasheet? How much longer does it take to tag with the specializations compared to standard DITA? What are the benefits of using the specialization, particularly for a company who already uses IP-XACT? SIDSC members; My apologies ... today's telecon discussion was really good, and really important to capture for those who could not attend. Unfortunately, this was the first time I'd attempted to use Live Meeting 2007 to record the session, and I missed the second click required to start the recording. So, we have no recording, and without a secretary, we have no notes. Hmmm... we'll have to count on email recollections to recover from my ineptitude.
