Status - DITA MIME type

Dear DITA TC members -

A few years back when the DITA for Web
SC was active, we had some discussion on the question of registering a
DITA MIME type.

Don
Day and Robin Cover had this exchange in 2011, from the TC email list:

Which leads to the official spot for tracking registration of application/dita+xml:

Robert and Kris kindly reminded me about
this Mime type issue, and that we have an open topic in the 1.3 spec to
address it.

What are current thoughts on either 

a) moving ahead with getting this mime type
registered and including that in the 1.3 spec, or 

b) dropping it and removing the topic from
1.3 spec?
