docbook-xsl compiled as XSLTC?

Hi, 

has anyone here had success with compiling the docbook-xsl stylesheets using xalan-j's xsltc compiler?

It complains about some attributes not being inside of an element (inside the table.frame template of fo/formal.xsl) and then quits with an error about a non-valid object reference.  

I'm not very familiar with xsltc, but i am looking for a way to speed up our docbook transformations.
