Bibliography counting problems

Hi,

I posted a message on the Sunday "bibliography.collection and 
bibliography.numbering clash" and am now suffering from Warnock's 
Dilemma (see http://mar.anomy.net/entry/2003/07/20/21.18.32/) as I got 
no replies.

The problem is already in the sourceforge bug tracker "[ 992905 ] HTML: 
wrong bibl. numbering with ext. bibliography" at 
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=992905&group_id=21935&atid=373747
from Oliver Bolzer. I tried his patch (on html/biblio.xsl in the 1.66.0 
docbook-xsl release) and it works for me.

Any chance of any feedback on whether the problem is reproducible, 
whether the fix is OK and whether it might make it into a new release.

If not is it possible to get a fix like this to work in a customisation 
layer so that I don't need to modify the original distribution.
