I didn't quite follow your description of what you have, but experiment with
increasing the 'region.before.extent' parameter to see if you can coax the
content to return.

Yes, on right I have 4 lines of text with 2.5mm after the region in 3cm the
graphic is 1.16 cm height 3 cm width.
