eliminating the table of contents in docbook stylesheets 1.69.1

I
have an application that has been using docbook stylesheets 1.69.1.  The book
that is generated always has a table of contents. I have a case now that I want
to eliminate the table of contents page completely. Can someone tell me how to
do this?
