Documenting data structures

Hi there

Any examples of or guidelines for using DocBook to document data
structures? I mean the type where bytes 1-4 is used for field X, and
bits 0-3 of byte 5 are flags for fields A, B, C, D, and so on.

Ditto for documenting protocols.
