Try changing

<xsl:template name="user.header.content">
  <xsl:call-template name="breadcrumbs"/>
</xsl:template>

to

  <xsl:template name="user.header.content">
    <xsl:if test="boolean(../..)">
      <xsl:call-template name="breadcrumbs"/>
    </xsl:if>
  </xsl:template>
