Creating new custom style sheet parameters

Title: Creating new custom style sheet parameters

Hi List, 

This doesn’t seem to hard but since I haven’t done it before, I would like some advice. 

I want to add a new parameter to my customization layer that will be recognized by the docbook style sheets. Like “glossary.collection” or “bibliography collection” this parameter will pass the path for a graphics collection into the style sheets to access a central graphics repository. 

Can someone tell me the best way to do this?
