affixing the current date in the printed PDF or HTML -- how to do?

Hi, there, 

I was wondering if there was a way to tell the XSLT processor to put today's date on outputted PDF or HTML? 

I can manually put the date and time on my draft, but I keep forgetting to update. So a passive solution would be ideal.
