Naming and versioning

After the discussion of this proposal on docbook list, I slightly 
changed the proposed structure of version identifier to:

base_version-[subset|extension|variant] [name[-version]?]+

Examples of identifiers are below:

5.0-subset simplified-1.0
5.0-variant ASMBook
5.0-variant ASMBook-2006
5.0-extension MathML-2.0 SVG-1.1

I hope that it is better to send samples by email then trying to spell 
them over the phone during telcon (especially given my English spelling 
skills ;-).
