DOCBOOK: docbook cosmetics

Quick question that I didn't see any tags for in 
the reference pages (unless I overlooked them).

 

I just started w/ docbook and am wondering how to 
properly add background colors, shade in those example text areas, font sizes, 
etc.. cosmetic things.
