referencing an image

Hello,

As a part of a user manual, I've got several screenshots which need to be
referenced again and again.

I'm in a fix as to how to refer to an image, through an <xref linkend=...>

My initial effort at:

<screenshot>
 <screeninfo>640x480x250</screeninfo>
  <graphic id="Logon" fileref="images/1.4a.gif">
</screenshot>

does not seem to work. Any suggestions on this score?
