long lines in printed <screen> environment

Hello, can anyone tell me the best way to have lines auto-wrap (with line
continuation characters automatically inserted)?

Being able to provide hints to an ideal breakpoint would be useful too
(something like a <breakhint/> perhaps?)

I tried doing it manually using a LEFTWARDS ARROW WITH HOOK, but FOP
renders it as a # in PDF.

I'm sure this must be a problem that has been solved already...

Alternatively, it would be good to have a way of telling FOP (0.9) to give
me a "wide" presentation.
