Hi,
The automatic propagation of role values into class attributes only applies to four
elements: emphasis, entry, para, and phrase. For other elements like markup, you can
customize the class attribute generated for it with a small customization as described
here:

The mode="class.value" feature was added in version 1.73 of the stylesheets and gives
you control of your class attribute values.
