The process for producing the second quarter report for
OASIS was not satisfactory.  I never heard from two TCs and had to create
content for them from stray emails that I happen to have retained. 

 

One of the strategic objectives of the Steering Committee this
year is to “Ensure that all TCs are actively involved in developing
specifications.”  I and the other members of the Steering Committee plan
to use your quarterly reports to ensure that all TCs are active and
productive.  OASIS will not tolerate inactive Technical Committees.  We
have closed two TCs this year for lack of interest or activity – Transcripts
and SDHI.  The Steering Committee’s objective is not to close TCs,
but rather to give them the guidance, encouragement, and resources they need to
be productive.  

 

To fulfill our role, we need to hear quarterly from each TC.

 

The third quarterly report will cover activities in July,
August and September.  It will be due to OASIS in mid-October. 
Please mark October 8th in your calendars as the due date for
your next status reports to the Steering Committee.  The Steering
Committee will meet by conference call on the 13th.  That will
serve as our accountability point for this process.  I should easily be
able to provide the next quarterly report to OASIS by the 15th of
October if I get the needed cooperation from each TC.

 

Thank you for planning ahead to avoid the problem that we
faced with this last report.
