Steering Committees,

As you know the OASIS Board formed the Member Section Policy committee to
solicit input and involvement from our Member Section Steering Committees as
we prepare a new Member Section Policy.  We clearly do want your insights
and input as we move forward.  There are two related items about which the
Board would like to hear from you.

1. What's working and what's not working in the Member Section operations?
The MS Policy Committee raised this question on one of our recent calls, but
not all member sections were represented.  So, I would like to ask each
steering committee to think about this and send me written comments (or have
your representative submit them to the 
email list).  Please submit your response by 15 April. We want to know: 
	a. what aspects of your current member section operation are working
well? 
	b. what aspects of the current member section program would you want
to maintain?
	c. what things need to be improved?
	d. what new aspects (programs, support, etc.) would you like to see
added?

2. You are invited to send a representative(s) to the OASIS Board meeting
being held on 11-12 May at the Symposium venue in San Francisco.  The Board
will be meeting on Thursday afternoon and all day on Friday.  We plan to
schedule a block of time (1 to 2 hours) to hear from each steering committee
and have a general discussion on the status and plans around the Member
Section Policy.  Please let me know who from your steering committee will
attend and what time slot works best for them (Thur PM, Fri AM, Fri PM).
Also, most of the May face-to-face OASIS Board meeting will be held in open
session, so that any OASIS member can attend and observe.  We would expect
that the Member Section reviews would be held in open session.


Also, just a reminder that your 2006 Q1 reports will be due to me by 28
April.  Cathie Mayo should have your March financial reports to you be the
20th of April.
