Dear All, dear Rolly,
some comments in order to arrive to the call conference with some more
ideas:
3. Tech Committee Updates - In order to revitalise the TCs I
can offer the interest of CODEX- Stanford, Law, Science and Techonology
Programme Research, to host a conference the next October in order to
collect some emerging topics, to evaluate the evolution of the existing
workshop and eventually to open new tracks. The conference can attract
stakeholders from courts, industry, academic sector around the Legal
XML.
2. 2010 Budget Report. I have not received or found a draft
version of the budget 2010 and I would appreciate very much if it
exists to see it before tomorrow. According with the previous issues I
am interested to know if it is possible to allocate some budget for the
conferences.
6. New Business. We can evaluate old and new topics in
connection also with the conferences goal. I am also co-chair of RuleML
Challenge 2010, so we can use this opportunities for testing some new
fields. The topic on which we are focalising the competition of RuleML
Challenge is on the "Temporal and geospatial constraints in rules
modelling". There is a great usage of temporal and geospatial data in
the legal documentation so it is interesting to model them in order to
foster the legal knowledge.
Yours,
Monica

Hi Rolly,
I didn't realize this next meeting is at 10 AM Eastern. At that
time, I'll be in the midst of carpooling my kids to school (7 AM
Pacific which is Arizona's current time zone) ... so I don't think I'll
be able to dial in. Perhaps I can share a couple items / updates based
on the agenda for the group's consideration and discussion.
3. Tech Committee Updates - ECF TC -- The ECT TC
continues to remain in sort of a dormant state in terms of the
technical work being performed on the ECF specification. A minor
release to correct a couple of minor issues in the spec was released a
couple of weeks ago, and we will continue to make minor releases as
needed, however, as we've indicated before we do plan to hold the ECF
4.0 release in it's current state probably at least for another year.
The ECF TC continues to focus on Outreach and will likely have some
specific budget requests to help members and implementers attend
upcoming court conferences in the 2nd half of the year. I expect more
detailed info on this for our next SC meeting. Robert might be able to
share anything additional about the ECF TC that I'm failing to mention.
4. Election of Chair - I know one of the topics is
regarding the chair election, which based on my phone call with Mark
and Dee a couple of weeks ago sounds like I may be in the running. I
conveyed to Mark and Dee that I would not mind taking on that role, so
long as the SC could be flexible with meeting time (primarily hold that
a little later in the day, like 9 or 10 AM Pacific Time). Otherwise,
the early morning meetings just add to the odds that I won't be able to
participate in a meeting, which doesn't make for a very good chair. We
also discussed that fact that since there isn't a whole like of
activity ocurring in both the eNotary and ECF TC's that meetings
bi-monthly (every 2 months) may be more appropriate for the group at
this time. In the absence of a meeting, use of the listserve to begin
discussion threads is always a good and convenient option as well.
Rolly ... thank you so much for taking the lead during this
transition period we seem to be in. Very much appreciated.
Thanks so much,
George Knecht
