Stanford follow-up

Dee,I enjoyed the opportunity at Stanford to chat with you about the future of LegalXML.  Like you, I am hopeful that LegalXML can identify future opportunities.  The ECF TC will hopefully be discussing future standards development during our meetings this month and next.  Outside of the ECF TC, some ideas of potential standards that LegalXML might explore include:1.       Electronic discovery2.       Global Justice Reference Architecture (JRA) specifications (based on NIEM and the OASIS SOA-RM)3.       Implementation and enforcement of privacy policies (based on the XACML and the Global Privacy Technology Framework specification)I think collaboration with the ABA would be key to #1.  The key people to work with on #2 and #3 are the Global Infrastructure Standards Working Group and the Global Security Working Group.  For more information on each committee, see http://it.ojp.gov.  MTG is represented on both committees so I would be happy to make any introductions if needed.  On the LegalXML side, the discussion with Global should probably be led by members of the Steering Committee, right?  Jim Cabral

Importance: HighHello StC,The Stanford panel was very impressive, it was not as well attended as I’d hoped but I will be getting the video to post to the OASIS web site.  Jim and Monica, could you possibly write a short report with recommendations for going forward – the OASIS Board is anxious to understand our future direction.Jane is in conversation with NIEM for the NIEM Training Event that is coming up in August. Can we clearly articulate activities that we might be able to present at that event that will help to define new work. Could we possibly pull off an eCourt filing demo and presentation?Jim,Can you contact the folks at DOJ that we discussed – sorry, refresh my memory in terms of your suggestions for working with their standardization effort – possibly joint presentations. Jane has a very good relationship with Donna Roy, so I think she would be willing to hear our proposals. I think we need to go to the BOARD with a very tight plan and get approval to use MS funds to support our effort at NIEM.
