During the LegalXML Steering Committee today, we identified e-discovery as target area for creation of a new LegalXML TC.  I have not received a response to my email below to George Socha and Tom Gelbmann who are listed as the points of contact on
http://www.edrm.net/contact-us  .  The LegalXML Steering Committee requests your assistance in approaching EDRM.net about a possible collaboration with LegalXML on specifications for e-discovery.

George and Tom,

As a chair of the OASIS LegalXML Electronic Court Filing (ECF)

Technical Committee (TC), I was interviewed recently about industry standards for the legal community and EDRM came up.  I have briefly reviewed your schemas and documentation and think EDRM might benefit from the increased visibility and participation you will get by vetting your specifications through a recognized standards body.  The LegalXML Member Section within OASIS has defined XML standards for the exchange of legal data including court filing and service, eContracts, eNotary, Integrated Justice, and others.  While we do not yet have a committee focused on e-discovery, I think the potential for collaboration is clear.  You can find more information about OASIS, the ECF TC and the LegalXML Member Section at:

On a related note, are you aware of the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM)?  Within the ECF TC, we have found the NIEM to be a very useful vocabulary/data model for building exchange schemas, particularly in the justice domain.  NIEM is especially useful for describing documents since it incorporates metadata from Dublin Core.  You can find more information about NIEM at:
