...I'm calling for a real, open and transparent standard for identity and privacy, one that we can all agree on: vendors and end-users that keep us apprised of what happens to our information, tells us in real-time what we're about to do, and keeps us safe and shielded from prying eyes if that's what we prefer...In 1999, Stephen Manes quoted McNealy as saying, 'You have zero privacy anyway. Get over it.' Manes criticized the statement in his Full Disclosure column: 'He's right on the facts, wrong on the attitude... Instead of 'getting over it', citizens need to demand clear rules on privacy, security, and confidentiality.' Read the full blog.
Symptoms Automation Framework (SAF) becomes OASIS Standard
Members have approved the Symptoms Automation Framework (SAF) 1.0 as an OASIS Standard. SAF is a tool in the automatic detection, optimization, and remediation of operational aspects of complex systems, notably data centers, that provides a non-normative XML data model, based on a pseudo schema and an XSD. Congratulations to the SAF TC chairs, Jeffrey Vaught of CA Technologies and Starvros Isaiadis of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and to all TC participants including representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsor, IBM, and Sponsors, CA Technologies and Fujitsu for this accomplishment.

Members propose PROMCODE TC
All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS Project Management of Contracted Delivery for Software Supply Chains (PROMCODE) Technical Committee. PROMCODE will work to exchange project management information across organizational boundaries. PROMCODE TC proposers include representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM, as well as Sponsors, Fujitsu, NEC and others. Dr. Mikio Aoyama of Nanzan University serves as convener. The member comment period for this draft charter closes 6 Feb.

S-RAMP TC publishes Committee Specification
SOA Repository Artifact Model and Protocol (S-RAMP) defines a SOA artifact data model together with bindings that describe a syntax for interacting with a SOA repository to increase choice, flexibility, and lower costs for customers. Congratulations to S-RAMP TC chair, Vincent Brunssen of IBM, and to all TC members for accomplishing this milestone.

Search Web Services TC proposes submission to ISO/IEC JTC 1
All members are invited to comment on a proposed submission of the searchRetrieve 1.0 OASIS Standard to the ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1). The member public review ends on 19 Feb.
Public reviews open for XACML, Energy Interoperation, OData, Trust Elevation, TGF, and MQTT
XACML 3.0 Additional Combining Algorithms Profile 1.0 defines new, useful (but optional) combining algorithms for XACML 3.0 used for representing authorization and entitlement policies. This public review ends 28 Feb.
Energy Interoperation 1.0 describes information and communication models to enable a collaborative and transactive use of energy, service definitions consistent with SOA-RM, and XML vocabularies for interoperable and standard exchanges. This public review ends 31 Mar.
OData Extension for Data Aggregation 4.0 adds basic grouping and aggregation functionality to OData, (which enables the creation of REST-based data services), without changing any of its base principles. This public review ends 11 Feb.
Electronic Identity Credential Trust Elevation Framework 1.0 recommends particular methods as satisfying defined degrees of assurance for elevating trust in an electronic identity credential This public review ends 20 Feb.
Transformational Government Framework Version 2.0 is a practical "how to" standard for the design and implementation of an effective program of technology-enabled change at national, state or local government level. The TGF provides a tried and tested way forward utilizing the best parts of existing e-Government programs and avoiding large new investments. This public review ends 21 Feb.
Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) 3.1.1 is a lightweight Client Server publish/subscribe messaging transport protocol used for communication in M2M/IoT contexts where a small code footprint is required and/or network bandwidth is at a premium. This public review ends 11 Feb.
OASIS to participate in ITU IoT workshop
This workshop will explore the status of various standards initiatives in Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. Senior Advisor on International Standards Policy, Dr. Carol Cosgrove-Sacks, will speak on behalf of OASIS at the event, which will take place 18 Feb in Geneva, Switz.
KVDB TC publishes English meeting minutes
The Key-Value Database Application Interface TC, which conducts its work in Chinese, will publish its meeting minutes in English allowing more people to follow the work. KVDB defines an open API for managing and accessing data from database systems based upon a key-value model.

From Kenya to Italy, Uruguay to Switzerland, Nicaragua to Hong Kong, users of Akoma Ntoso span the globe. See the implementation list compiled by Monica Palmirani, co-chair of the LegalDocML TC, which bases its work on Akoma Ntoso.
OBIX gets Smart
The SmartTV Alliance has chosen OBIX as a candidate message format for the Smart Home specification. Smart Home defines the TV's role in managing the connected environment of IP-enabled appliances in the local home network, IP-enabled home gateways abstracting other proprietary transport protocols, and remote cloud back-ends.
