OASIS elects Board Directors
Fang You of Huawei was elected and Frederick Hirsch of Nokia, Jim Hughes of Microsoft, Gershon Janssen, Dawn Jutla of St. Mary’s University, and Paul Lipton of CA Technologies were reelected to the Board for two-year terms. They join continuing Board Directors, Peter Brown, Martin Chapman of Oracle, Mike DeNicola of Fujitsu, Dave Ings of IBM, and Sanjay Patil of SAP.
Jacques Durand of Fujitsu was reelected to the Technical Advisory Board, joining continuing TAB members, Ashok Malhotra of Oracle and Patrick Durusau.
OASIS commends outgoing Board Director, Zhexuan Song of Huawei, and TAB member, Jun Qian of Primeton, for their service to the consortium.

Members propose new biometrics TC
Review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS Biometric Open Protocol Specification (BOPS) Technical Committee. The goal of BOPS is to define a server-based identity standard for enabling biometric security systems to provide identity assertion, role gathering, multi-level access control, assurance, and auditing. OASIS Distinguished Contributor, Abbie Barbir of Bank of America, serves as convener. Other TC proposers include representatives of Hoyos Labs Intel, Open Identity Exchange, Red Hat, and Villanova University. The member comment period for this draft charter closes 21 Jul.
Transformational Government Framework TC publishes Committee Notes
TGF Executive Summary 1.0, TGF Tools and Models for Business Management 2.0 and TGF e-Health Profile 1.0 advance an overall framework for using information technology to improve the delivery of public services. Congratulations to TC chair, John Borras, and to all TC members, including representatives of Fujitsu, Microsoft, and the US Program Manager Information Sharing Environment.
WS-BRSP TC publishes Committee Specifications
Basic Profile 1.2, Basic Profile 2.0 and Reliable Secure Profile 1.0 clarify and refine WS-I (Web Services Interoperability) specifications. Congratulations to the WS-BRSP TC chair, Jacques Durand of Fujitsu, and to all TC members, including representatives of Cisco, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, Microsoft, and Red Hat, on this accomplishment.
Business Document Exchange TC publishes Committee Specification
Business Document Metadata Service Location 1.0 defines service discovery method values for use in DNS Resource Record service fields. Congratulations to BDXR TC chair, Kenneth Bengtsson, and to all TC members for accomplishing this milestone.
Public Reviews underway for AMQP, eTMF, MQTT, VIRTIO
Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) WebSocket Binding 1.0 defines a mechanism for tunneling an AMQP connection over a WebSocket transport. It is applicable as an approach for general firewall tunneling and for Web browser messaging scenarios. The public review ends 19 Jul.
Electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) Specification 1.0 defines open technologies for clinical trial master file content interoperability and data exchange to enable safe and rapid delivery of drug and device therapies globally. The public review ends 8 Aug.
Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) 3.1.1 is a Client Server publish/subscribe protocol widely used in Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) contexts where a small code footprint is required and/or network bandwidth is at a premium. This 60-day public review, in preparation for an OASIS Standard ballot, ends 4 Sept.
Virtual I/O Device (VIRTIO) 1.0 provides an efficient, standard mechanism for simplifying virtual devices, making them more extensible and recognizable. This public review ends 28 Jul.
Hoyos Labs and Machine Shop become newest OASIS Sponsors
Hoyos Labs is a digital infrastructure security company devoted to developing highly secured Identity Assertion Platforms capable of authenticating and assuring identities quickly yet accurately. Hoyos is a Co-Proposer of the BOPS TC.
MachineShop provides discrete, authenticated, metered and managed APIs from anywhere, deployed anywhere. MachineShop is participating in the MQTT TC.
The UK National Archives also joined OASIS as a Contributor.
DITA TC to host webinar on v1.3
Find out what's new and valuable in the upcoming release of DITA 1.3. This 90-minute webinar, covering troubleshooting topic, scoped keys, release management, branching, and more, will be held 7 Aug.
eTMF TC to host five webinars
This series of webinars provides an overview of the Electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) Specification 1.0. Webinars will be tailored for technical developers in BioPharma, non-technical clinical professionals, and TMF RM members. The first presentation will be 17 Jul.
