FW: Savage Change Tracking, I: Fundamental Approach

This is not about OpenDocument change-tracking, although there might be some cross-fertilization in some unforeseen future.  It is FYI and FWIW.  The essential reason that SCT this doesn't apply is this proviso:
3.5 Any severing of element content and splicing across the scars
can require any of end-tag change, start-tag introduction, and
introduction of new elements.  Although SCT provides sufficient
information for correct application/reconstruction without knowledge
of the application, such dramatic changes, where allowed, require a
profile for determining what are the valid, semantics-preserving
transformations.  I have no idea what a profile that covered, say, the changes already more-or-less handled by ODF 1.0/1.1/1.2 would contain.  There are a number of problems that would have to be solved.
