Comment on ODF v1.2 CD 05 - Document Signatures
Title: Message

A group
of us within ETSI are working on the definition of a structure for
associating electronic signatures, based on the XAdES (ETSI TS 101 933) and
CAdES (ETSI TS 101 703), with one or more objects held in a ZIP based
structure.  The aim of this structure is to be compatible with use of OCF
(OEBPS Container Format), ODF (Open Office) and UCF.

Currently, the ODF
specification defines a syntax and file name for the signature
"documentsignatures.xml" which is different from the "signatures.xml" syntax
defined in OEBPS Container Format (OCF) 1.0 and also used in the Universal
Container format defined by Adobe:
 http://livedocs.adobe.com/navigator/9/Navigator_SDK9_HTMLHelp/Appx_Packaging.6.1.html

It would greatly assist
us in applying the ETSI advanced signature formats (which extend the XML and CMS
standard formats) to container formats such as ODF if this ODF syntax and
filename was consistent with that used in other container
formats.

I would also like to bring
to your attention that reference from part 1
section 3.16 to section 2.4 of part 3, should reference part 3 section
5.  Also and that in part 1 3.16 text mentioning
"macrosignatures.xml" needs updating as this in not mentioned in part
3.

Due to shortage of time
following the holiday period this is an individual contribution, but it is our
aim to keep ODF informed of ETSI's ongoing work on Associated Signatures and its
use with container formats such as ODF.
