They are just arbitrary name/value pairs in XML attribute syntax that 
can be used by an applications if it has to save additional information 
to restore a cursor position. One example woule be a name of the view if 
an application supports multiple views of a document. Another example 
would be offset required to position the cursor within an attribute 
value as suggested by Paul.
