Extensions and MIME types

Dear TC members,

some time ago we started a discussion whether to add recommendations for 
file name extensions to the specification or not, and if so, which ones. See

The OpenOffice.org people created a proposal which extension they want 
to use in their product, so we might want to continue our discussion:
