Another problem is that how this is used in <text:section> is not described.  It has nothing to do with tables in that case.  I didn't know this was here, and I raised a separate issue about it as OFFICE-3384.  I'll link to this one from that one too.

Also, I think this is more than a note.  It appears to forbid appearance of the element in a <table:table> when it is a spreadsheet document.  Time to check the schema and figure out what is really happening here.

If you look at 14.6.5 on <table:dde-link> you'll find that there is nothing here specific to Spreadsheets.  Furthermore, section 9.8 on <table:dde-links>, although about spreadsheets, indicates that a <table:dde-links> container of <table:dde-link> elements can appear not only in <office:spreadsheet> but also in <office:chart>, <office:drawing>, <office:presentation>, and <office:text>.

So somewhere we lost the full story on the <table:dde-links> case.

And now we *really* need to know the difference for occurrence of <office:dde-source> in <text:section> and <table:table> and what a producer is providing and what a consumer is expected to make of it..
