In reading this - it is indeed nifty - and shows the concise nature and power of NVDL syntax compared to handcoding this in XSLT.
One should clarify though that what Rik has done is show a PRE-VALIDATION technique of pre-processing the ODF content - ready for unwards validation by further steps - by removing (stripping) non-ODF content.

Rick has posted an approach to a validation step, stripping out
all non odf: namespaced content for seperate validation using iso NVDL.
