First draft protocols section

Title: First draft protocols section

Colleagues - Please find attached the first draft of the protocols section.  Clearly, at the detailed level it won't be stable until the use case, core assertions and bindings work is complete.  So, only comments at the coarse (concepts) level are appropriate at this point.

This version is in MS Word format.  Let me know if that is a problem for you.
