Not sure I as I have never seen a list of requirements only technology, so
its hard to figure out what requirements you were solving thus the
questions.

So this is a device specific profile ? What about a Web services profile
for newer smarter devices, they make those right ;-) ?

I thought that's why the metadata discovery protocol was being submitted,
