Possible deprecation of AuthenticationMethod Attribute

As part of the SAML 2.0 discussion, there is a proposal to deprecate the
SAML 1.1 AuthenticationMethod attribute and the associated list of
SAML-defined identifiers as defined in Section 7 of SAML 1.1 core.

In its place, SAML 2.0 would provide an alternative approach based upon the
Authentication Context draft. You can find the authentication context draft
