[trans-ws] Translation Web Services TC
Hi
all,

Thank you very much
for joining the Translation Web Services TC.

My name is Peter
Reynolds and I am the proposed chair of the TC. It is intended that we will have
our first meeting on Thursday January 16th 2003. Meetings will then take place
every two weeks. The time for the meetings will be 4 PM (UK/Ireland), 11 AM
(Eastern US) and 8 AM (West Coast US). The reason why we are waiting so long
until the first meeting is that Oasis rules require a six week time between
proposing the TC and the first meeting. I will mail the group in the second week
in January with details of this meeting which will be done by conference
call.

The TC was proposed
by a number of people with significant experience within the localisation
industry. These are

Tony Jewtushenko, Oracle Corporation Ireland
Peter Reynolds,  Bowne Global
Solutions
Bill Looby, IBM Ireland
Gerard Cattin des Bois,  Microsoft
USA
Paul Quigley, Individual Member
Jaap van der Meer, Individual
Member
Reinhard Schaler, Localisation Resource
Centre

We put together
a white paper which describes why we felt there was a need for such a
TC. I have attached this document to this mail. Apologies to anyone who I have
sent it before.

If anyone on
this mailing list is not a member of Oasis they should get their company to join
before January 16th.

I hope you enjoy the
holiday season and I look forward to working with you in
January.

Thanks,

Peter.
