In response to Ron's comments:

The examples of the combined UDEF UIDs and the structured names was very
helpful. I am all for giving the UBL as much utility as possible to users
and the comments about the inability to cross reference unstructured UIDs is
an important and positive argument for the use of structured UIDs in the
UBL. In essence if we adopt your arguments and position we would be
achieving both ebXML compliance, excepting structured UIDs. I think the
benefits espoused out weigh the compliance issue. Maybe someone could offer
the counter argument on this point? After all, why are ebXML elements given
unstructured UIDs?
