Your compilation of use-case candidates is
a good start. I have also been considering where a good place to start is, and
I have a proposal that I am willing and eager to put some effort into:
PROPOSAL
=========
Our use cases represent a
business scenario that is recognizable to both a business modeler, as well
as a business process technician. This will give us a shot at having use
cases that can work as abstract processes, as well as executable.
Our use cases span the extended
enterprise which includes partners, franchises, and customers. This will
give us a back-drop to put in the rather complicated cases, some of which
you have in your initial compilation.
A supply chain is a reasonable use
case metaphor to start with, and I think we can further agree that:
Supply chain is applicable to
most industries
Supply chain can have both
abstract and executable levels
Supply chain can have aspects
that are complex
The long term benefit for the
TC is that we have one high level metaphor (albeit with many chapters and
subchapters) that would ‘ground’ all conversations. That is,
it would serve as both a means to express things we want to test, as well
as serve to tell us if our scenario is ‘reasonable’.

There has not been a conference call since 6/23. On
yesterdays general conference call JohnE said he was going to schedule a use
case conf call late this week or early next week. Since you were gone I put out
a doc Voting on Use Cases that is a proposal we need to talk about and Ben
Block put out some info and proposals relating to the template. Check the
website for this stuff.
Personally I can do a conf call next Mon (7/14), not
Tues, and Wed is a maybe. If we all let John know our availability it might be
helpful to get something set up.
