Christian, all,

XLIFF 2.0 has significantly different data model compared to XLIFF 1.2 that is why XLIFF 2.0 conformant applications are not asked to support XLIFF 1.2 or previous.

As a resolution for Christian's comment I suggest that we add the following informative Note to the Conformance section

Note:

XLIFF Documents conformant to this specification are not and cannot be conformant to XLIFF 1.2 or earlier versions. If an application needs to support for whatever business reason both XLIFF 2.0 and XLIFF 1.2, these will need to be supported as separate functionalities.

Any improvement ideas welcome.

I will consider this solution approved unless I hear dissent by Monday, March 17, End of Day PDT.
