I actually had a really disparaging email about the
semantic web (aka the magical, fun, overhyped and
fantastic web) but decided against posting it given my
current employer.
However I will mention this, currently the semantic
web is primarily a grab bag of end-user scenarios with
little if any current technological basis to believe
that these scenarios can be actualized.
In my personal opinion (which is unrelated to that of
my employer), the semantic web is on the same level as
flying cars and elevator rides to the moon; a nice but
impractical and infeasible dream.

I will never build only one of anything important. All
important systems will have redundant control panels
and power supplies. For the same reason I will
always carry at least two fully loaded weapons at all
times.
