Most of the time, it is advisable to separate intent from presentation. This
speaks poorly of things like <label text="Address" x="30" y="1"/> as seen in
GNUe Forms.

For the intent portion, a much better standard is XForms (though I'm
biased--I'm an editor)

For presentation (even x,y stuff), CSS2 seems to work pretty well. My
employer has released a successful implementation of eforms using HTML forms
and CSS absolute positioning. The beauty of such an approach is that a
limited browser (such as a handheld) will just ignore the positioning bits
and show everything in reading order.

I have seen a little bit on Application user interface standards and tools
for creating user interfaces within applications.

Scalar vector graphics allows fixed position screen resolution (HTML is free
form)

 What I would like to know is whether there is a standard where the location
of the screen objects can be fixed X & Y is a window, and that standard is
the one which will likely become the recommendation.
