I see an opportunity to use such a syntax as the primary tree on which XPathNG 
would work (seeing *everything* there as annotation). It might be simpler to 
start from there and then fall back to shortcuts mimicking XPath 1.0, as it 
would give us a consistent model to work on. Thoughts?
