[NVDL] slot nodes and sections?

Hi

  I'm having a look at NVDL.  But I have trouble
understanding what exactly "slot nodes" ("element slot
nodes" and "attribute slot nodes") and "sections"
("element sections" and "attribute sections") stand for.

  Does someone can help me on this?
