That did even worse, and the Danes for some reason never got it back.  I 
meant the end of the Viking settlements in the 15th century.  I think 
the 12% are likely folks from the more recent Danish return.

(Counting Viking descendants is silly - my mother turns out to be ~40% 
Scandinavian, despite being mostly from Waterford, Ireland.  Of course 
that's a corruption of Water-fjord. Viking descendants are pretty much 
anywhere within range of the North Sea or even Mediterranean.)
