Try adding something like:
    <xsl:attribute name="text-indent">3em</xsl:attribute>

I've not tried it, but the XSL spec says this is for
indenting the first line of a block.

Editorial comment:
Seems to me the property name could have been more clear,
such as "first-line-start-indent". After all, there
is a "last-line-end-indent", whose purpose I cannot imagine.
