WebsiteDTD: suppressing the homepage title

Hello,

I saw in tabular.xsl :

<xsl:if test="$autolayout/autolayout/toc[1]/@id != $id
               or $suppress.homepage.title = 0">
   <xsl:apply-templates select="./head/title" mode="title.mode"/>
</xsl:if>

So I tried to set $suppress.homepage.title. I added to my custom layer:

<xsl:param name="suppress.homepage.title">0</xsl:param>

But I doesn't change. What did I wrong?
