No, I think that would be a mistake. Instead, I suggest that you break
the list if you need to insert something as intrusive as a bridgehead.
You can get the appropriate numbering with continuation:
...
</listitem>
</orderedlist>
<bridgehead>...</bridgehead>
<orderedlist continuation="continues">
<listitem>
...
