Subject: [kmip-interop-tech] Notes from KMIP interop call, December 8
All,
Here are my summary notes from today's interop call. Please let me know of any additions/corrections you might have.
Best Regards, Mathias
KMIP interop 2011-12-08
Attending: Mathias, John, Krishna (IBM), John (HP), John (Quintessence), Tim (Cryptsoft), Denis (SafeNet), Bob (Thales)
Discussion around interop at RSA Conference. Previously, showing interoperability by moving keys between implementations of different vendors has been discussed. For everyone, this involves at least some amount of engineering work, so we need to agree on the technical details as soon as possible.
AI: Folks to send ideas to the interop list in the next few days, discuss further on next week's call.
A problem with using the Use Cases as a bare minimum requirement is that (especially product) implementations might be perfectly KMIP compliant and support everything necessary for certain business scenarios, but still end up only supporting a single KMIP use case from the Use Cases document. For this reason, we need to start doing interop-testing well in advance of the conference, so that we still have time to iron out the final details, i.e., start interop-testing on January 23rd for two weeks, with another week for agreeing on results. The goal is to have everything we want to show agreed upon, implemented and ready for testing on January 23rd.
Interop-calls will continue over the holidays on the same schedule as the main TC calls. In case of a change in the dial-in details, Tim will send out the new information.
