Interop test scope, overview, timing and rules:
Tony walked through the process document (v1.2 as circulated):
- All participants to accept the process via email to the list
(or raise objections on the call or to Tony privately.
- Reviewed the scope of the test being KMIP v1.2 (test cases
& profile test cases), KMIP v1.3 (test cases & profile test
cases), whatever KMIP v1.4 participants can agree on.
- Minimum requirement will be to perform something (even just a
single operation) against each other for KMIP 1.2 or above.
- Folks visiting the booth are used to see the latest and
greatest functionality and 1.3 was demonstrated in 2015 - we are
looking to show some form of v1.4 functionality in 2016 to show the
TCs latest work per the original TC decision to do the interop back
in April.
David F: Raised a concern that SafeNet may not be participating
given their limited KMIP support.
Tim: Minimum bar will be ensuring each client can interact with each
server and vice versa.
David F: Indicated some basic 1.2 support that matches the original
SafeNet KMIP 1.1 support will be in place.

Tim H: Given what David has indicated then SafeNet will
support at least Query, and the technical requirements will be met -
it is purely a marketing/product management decision to demonstrate
more functionality to show in the result graphs that are published.
to show in the result graphs that are published.
Tony: This would enable SafeNet to participate.
Tony to continue speaking with Stephen Kingston (SafeNet) to check
the status.
Tony walked through the remainder of the process document:
- Claims sheet will be circulated soon.
- Test sheets to be generated from completed claims forms like
in 2014.
- Ensure all discussions and content within the participant
group is kept strictly confidential. Publications back to the TC
will be done by agreement following the completion of testing.
- Discussed escalation on interop failures to participant group
then the Interop Subcommittee, then the KMIP TC.
Steve W: highlighted a few test cases that were problematic last
year
as there are multiple correct answers (those that respond with the
server behaviour). All agreed we'll clarify the expected result
prior to test so the set of tests that are basically variations are
clearly noted.
Tony:
- Dates are tight - start date is Jan 11th. Claim sheets should
be returned by COB Friday 25th Pacific. Walked through full set of
dates.
Adjourn:
Jeff B Seconds, Tim H Moves, , No objections, abstentions or
comments.
