As you saw, 
John Messing suggested some revisions to the notes I provided from the October 7 
telephone meeting. Subsequent to that, Dallas Powell contacted me and indicated 
some of the same errors John had noted -- where I had mistakenly cited a name, 
for example. He also indicated how he wanted his remarks characterized, between 
my notes and John's annotations as they related to statements he made. 


Being a note-taker is challenging, for 
one does not always write down what people believe they said or heard. Given a 
choice between a speaker's characterization of the speaker's own statements and 
an interpretation of those statements by another, including the note-taker, my 
bias is to defer to the speaker. I guess that's why Senators and Congressmen get 
to revise and extend their remarks.
