The OASIS rules require that persons wishing to become members of a new Technical Committee complete four steps. Three of those steps must be completed 15 days before the first meeting of the TC. Our first meeting is June 20th. Therefore the deadline for taking three of the four required steps for membership is June 5th.
To become a member of the Court Filing TC, you must do these three things by June 5th:
- become a member of OASIS (or
an employee of a member of OASIS);
- notify the chair of the TC by
email stating your intent to participate in the TC (I have been receiving
these messages; a message to Moira Rowley will also suffice); and
- subscribe to the TC email list
by sending an appropriate email message to the email list server. (Information
on how to do this is included in the call for participation.)
The fourth required step is to attend the first meeting on June 20th.
Persons not completing these four steps timely may subsequently become members of the TC, by completing the first three steps, but their ability to vote on TC actions will be delayed substantially. Persons joining after the first meeting may be allowed by the chair to participate as soon as they have taken the steps to join, but must wait 60 days or three meetings of the TC before becoming voting members.
A heartening number of members of the Legal XML Court Filing Work Group have completed the necessary steps to become members of the OASIS TC. A number of new participants from OASIS have also joined us. We are expecting about 20 people in Salt Lake City on the 20th and 21st.
I urge anyone who has been waiting to decide whether to participate
in the OASIS process to act by Wednesday of this week.
