Today's initial thought: OASIS LegalXML's Goal is? - To provide a family of XML Standards to support efficiency and effectiveness for ALL participants in the Justice/Court Community. It will further support other forms of dispute resolution approaches that can relieve some of the burden on the Justice/Court Community where appropriate. What are the key goals? - Get baseline statement from the corporate - Uses of users of legal information - Legal information - Bills - Language in the documents - Legislation - Regulation - ALR - State Code Administration - Citations re ABA Effort - ADR - Give platform for voice and influence the standards - Exchange of legal data - Relationship to other oasis standards and W3C and ... - Oasis strategic document review - Shorter the better - Develop test implement and support full life cycle support - Harmonizing the standards - Pull form charters - Social and political statements, public purpose, fundamental fairness - Tech/security - Code is law - Awareness of the efforts of governments, and NGO efforts and super-national - EGOV efforts - Transcripts - Contracts - Agency Law - Enotary - Lawful intercepts - How do we handle interoperability - Where does Court Document Fit - Resource Focus - Broad Stakeholder involvement - What about international? - Language - Culture - Judicial Systems - Interoperability vs. the same or disjoint Conscious decisions rather than default -(with international) - Science & Technology Domain - Blue Book & National Association of Law Librarians Jim Keane will gather and give a critical read to the LegalXML Inc Documents and surface missing concepts.
